365 New Orleans is proud to feature local artists, businesses, and non-profits in the city and surrounding metro area. We are currently featuring new businesses and side hustles that have bloomed out of the pandemic.
Before COVID hit our lives, Jessica Mulherin, now the owner of 4 Cats Catering was an event caterer and a line cook at Marjie’s. She tells us how this all went down:
During COVID-19 closures on Easter 2020, I decided to make homemade pierogis, a Polish dumpling & comfort food, as I had done as a child with my family in the past.
I posted a photo on “Where Nola Eats” Facebook group with the tagline “Happy Easter From This Polish Girl!” From there, I was hit with messages asking where I had gotten them and was I able to sell them.
Since then, months later, it’s been an amazing whirlwind of new ideas, amazing customers, and bringing my cultural heritage to New Orleans. We now sell them in half dozens frozen and vacuum-sealed delivered contactless to our customers’ doors.
The most surprising part was the overwhelming response to a lack of Polish / Ukrainian / Eastern European cuisine in the area. We have customers from all over the country who order religiously and support us immensely.
It’s been such an amazing experience to bring this comfort food to them and be able to try a variety of different flavors. We choose 4-5 different flavors a week and announce them on our Facebook page such as: Potato & Cheddar, Potato & Caramelized Onion, Loaded Potato w/ Homemade Bacon, Truffle Mushroom with Goat Cheese, Blueberry Cheesecake, and Sweetened Farmer’s Cheese.
What’s something people don’t know about your offerings?
We also offer smaller personalized portions of our catering menu for personalized dinners/date nights and we cure and smoke our own sausages and bacon.
Give us that Facebook page so we can follow you!
