Not far from the ferry that takes you from downtown to Algiers Point, you can find Beatrix Bell and her shop. Her studio is also connected to the shop. Milling about you can find locals and tourists who enjoy her handcrafted jewelry, which is one of the many reasons you can find her nationally. If you manage to catch Bea on a less busy day, she is crafting next season’s items well in advance.
1. What products and services do you offer?
One stop shop for locals and tourists to buy locally made goods.
2. How long have you been in business?
The shop has been open for a little over a year. I have been making jewelry full time since 2008.
3. How do people find you online?
4. What is lesser known about your business that you wish more people knew?
Most people don’t know that I sell my jewelry at over 250 stores nationwide. I was making jewelry way before I opened the shop.
5. What’s your favorite aspect or project you’ve worked on?
My favorite aspect is being my own boss. Being a creative entrepreneur provides me with a lot of freedom. And I live above the shop, so that’s pretty awesome.
My favorite project right now is some stuff I just worked on for the Historic New Orleans collection.
Check out Beatrix Bell’s Shop at 337 Morgan St. Suite A, in Algiers Point.
