Hailing from Brooklyn, Maggie Bard is now creating art and living it up in the New Orleans ‘hood of Holy Cross. Maggie is in the middle of designing a tarot card deck – with 40 out of the 78 cards complete. She most recently created an amazing Stevie Nicks shirt with Bread & Water Printshop. Maggie has mad skills, an eye for detail, and can help you find your vision.
1. What products and services do you offer?
I’m a freelace illustrator, fine artist, designer, and painter of public art. I am formerly a print master for a studio.
2. How long have you been in business?
My whole life, basically. I started drawing as a kid and I went to school for print making. The process of print making got in the way of the work, I wanted to go back to the actual art.
3. How do people find you online?
4. What is lesser known about your business that you wish more people knew?
I love doing commissions. The more personal, the better. The holidays are the best for commissions because you get to see this other side of them and what kind of gifts they want to give people. My best friend wanted this drawing of her legs with her cat in it. I would have never drawn that on my own and it ended up really cool looking.
5. What’s your favorite aspect or project you’ve worked on?
The tarot deck is a huge deal and a ton of work. I have to be very disciplined about it.
I did a project with Brooklyn Industries. We collaborated on a t-shirt what was an interpretive map of Brooklyn. It was produced and sold all over the country. It was absolutely magical to see a stranger wearing it.
My favorite aspect is that no matter what I’m doing, I have my own creative license. I’m lucky that when I’m approached for a commission, it’s based on a certain style. but I’m not tied down and I have creative freedom.
