Quinn Laroux, the only drag queen tour guide in New Orleans, moved to New Orleans from Knoxville, TN five years ago. After performing in drag for two years, she was looking for a way to turn it into her full time career when the idea for Nola Drag Tours came to her in moment of brilliance. After more than forty hours of research, she started hitting the streets to great success. With nearly two hundred five star reviews online and booming business, she is excited to continuing growing her truly unique experience and continuing to see where it takes her.
1. What products and services do you offer?
My primary work is a drag queen led walking tour of the French Quarter where I cover the history of women and queer people throughout all 300 years of New Orleans history with a special focus on the rise of our nightlife. It’s real history with no sugarcoating with plenty of jokes and fun along the way. I also perform locally and produce a monthly political cabaret show.
2. How long have you been in business?
I started the tour in January of this year.
3. How do people find you online?
4. What is lesser known about your business that you wish more people knew?
I hear a lot of people saying they don’t really like or care about history and I think that is something I want to change through the tour. I wish people knew how inspiring, hilarious, important, and fun it can be. I think most people don’t see themselves in history because they have never been exposed to stories about people they can truly relate to which is my primary goal in doing this.
