I know, I know. It’s getting real hot outside. But that doesn’t mean we should stop exercising. Grab your water bottle and head out to one of the many free fitness classes available to you.
Start your Monday off with Move Your Brass‘ Shakeout Run/Walk. Location changes every week so be sure to check their webpage. November Project NOLA also offers a workout with locations varying every Monday, starting at 6am, for all you early risers!
On Tuesdays, go check out Hip Hop Ya Brass at Crescent Park, starting at 5:45pm. City Park offers a free HIIT class, sponsored by lululemon Lakeside, at the Peristyle beginning at 6:30pm. This class is offered through July.
Wednesday morning you can get your sweat on with the November Project again, where yours truly has even won the spirit stick! (They call it something else, but we all know what it really is.) Meet at Champions Square at 6am.
Hump Day also offers a couple of free yoga classes around town with the first class beginning at 6pm at 2200 Lafitte St., it’s the Sojourner Truth Neighborhood Center Field. This class lasts through August, you can find more info here. Free Spirited Yoga at the Tchoup Yard starts at 6:30pm, 405 3rd St. in the Irish Channel.
Start Thursday with Stretch Your Brass at Piety Wharf at 6:15am. Bring a yoga mat and a friend!
If you’re not an early bird, Yoga Social Club offers a free class under the pavilion at Crescent Park later in the evening, from 5:45-6:45pm. (N. Peters & Marigny St. entrance)
Friday morning you can get your sweat on with November Project one more time! 6am at Shelter 1 in Lakeview, across from Landry’s Seafood.
My ladies are probably going to kill me for posting this pic – but this is after the free Zumba workout in City Park. Every Saturday at 8am. Just show up at the Peristyle in City Park. All ages and skill sets are welcome!
Round out your week with some free hula hooping lessons with Hey Now Hooping, every second Sunday of the month on the Great Lawn at City Park.
To exercise your mind, NOLA Yoga Loft, in the LGD, offers free meditation 7 days a week from 8-9am.
You always have other options by utilizing NORDC – they offer classes Monday-Saturday at a variety of times. They have Zumba, water aerobics, boxing, and more!
The Lafitte Greenway FitLot is now open and free to the public everyday too.
