Love to Luvi, Baby

I can’t even lie to you, when I saw the sign for Luvi pop up on Tchoupitoulas, I thought it was a yoga studio. (Shout out to my coworker Jennifer for knowing it was a place to eat!)

Luvi Restaurant, in the New Orleans Riverside neighborhood, is “traditional Shanghai cuisine with a punch of Japanese” according to their Facebook page.  Which is way nicer than my description of “delicious Asian fusion.”

Spring Roll

Don’t skip ordering the spring rolls! You get two to an order, I just couldn’t help myself and had to dig in before I got my camera out.

The tuna crostini had this delectable wasabi sauce under the raw tuna. The million dollar baby dish, I expected a ponzu sauce – but it was so much more. The masago vinegar soy dressing had me coming back for more.

Mama’s dumplings are handmade and worth every delectable bite. The broth that the dumplings sit happily in, has depth and isn’t too heavy – even for the warm spring day I was there. The Stolen Treasure dish is light enough so you don’t need a nap, but also satisfying.

This building has come a long way and they really transformed this old donut shop to something more charming and inviting. Other reasons to love Luvi was the impeccable service and lush cocktail list.

If it is any testament to the restaurant – the food was so appetizing that I returned the next day to try even more items!

Luvi Restaurant can be found at 5236 Tchoupitoulas in the Riverside neighborhood.
