Perfectly Parkview

New Orleans neighborhood, Parkview, has been one of the most recent additions to the New Orleans Historic District Landmarks Commission (HDLC). They are a small part of town that offers a lot of different styles of architecture. Bungalows, raised basements, and shotguns line their bumpy streets. It’s a quaint neighborhood to take a stroll through and enjoy some historic home window shopping. For the folks who live here, it’s a fantastic spot to be with some amazing culinary options close by. Let me introduce you to some of their awesome businesses.

Parkview Tavern

Parkview Tavern has been open for SEVENTY FIVE YEARS! Lawd, that’s a long time! Their manager, Kathy, has been there for 25 of them too. It’s a sublime neighborhood hangout to grab a beer & a shot. They have that vibe of Cheers where everyone knows everyone and all their business. They have large TVs to watch games on, pool tables, and a patio out front. While they don’t provide food, Blue Oak BBQ is right next door. Parkview does provide a free buffet during Saints game – make sure to try the gumbo!

Laurel Bed & Breakfast

Laura & Eliot Kamentiz bought this Parkview home in 1995. They have been operating & licensed with the city of New Orleans since 1996. It’s an adorbs home that offers a single suite, with a private bathroom and adjoining sunroom. They cater to an eclectic range of folks looking for a social setting. They love Parkview because it’s a more laid-back neighborhood that is community oriented and down to Earth. Their location is an ideal jumping off point to explore the city!

Toups Meatery

TOUPS! I love this place. LOVE. Open since 2012, Amanda & Isaac Toups are very present in the restaurant. Every aspect of their restaurant has a personal touch. It feels like a perfect mom & pop shop, but it’s also very intimate and great for a date. Toups has an eclectic mix of clientele from a business lunch crowd to a younger demographic. They are highly popular with the neighborhood due to their high quality, classic Cajun cuisine. You will leave there with the meat sweats after you’ve had everything from house-made cracklins to hogshead cheese. The charcuterie board is the most popular menu item. Offering a smart & affordable wine & cocktail list, Toups has reasonable prices for the extremely high level of quality. My pick: the pork chop. It’s massive, but you won’t regret it.
