  • What: African American Genealogy with Gaynell Brady
  • Where: Jefferson Parish Library, 4747 W Napoleon 
  • Time: 1:00-3:00pm
  • Info/Lagniappe: Brady says there are many obstacles to overcome for African-Americans searching for their ancestors and she will discuss how to overcome them. Gaynell Brady has served as an interpretive park ranger for the National Park Service and as a museum educator at the Louisiana State Museum, National World War II Museum, and River Road African American Museum. Brady also is the owner and operator of Our Mammy’s, an educational resource that encourages children of all ages to research their family histories and use them as inspirational tools to combat obstacles.

  • Info/Lagniappe: The Krewe of the Rolling Elvi is partnering with The Blood Center to hold a blood drive campaign to address the critical shortage in the blood supply. Please join us on Sunday, August 14th, from 11am-4pm to donate blood. In addition to the opportunity to donate blood on site, there will be bands and a dance showcase featuring some of the best krewes around. $5 w/ proof of blood donation.
