Breezy Bayou St. John

Bayou St. John is one of the New Orleans neighborhoods that everyone just loves. You have a variety of options for outdoor activities, Bayou Boogaloo every year, and architecture that will make your out of town friends envious. Bayou St. John, IMO, is in the heart of New Orleans.

Check out some of their fantastic local businesses and landmarks below!

City Cycle Works

City Cycle works is a used bike shop located along the Lafitte Greenway in Bayou St. John. The shop specializes in selling refurbished used bicycles, as well as bike repair. Various styles of used bikes are available for sale at any given time, ranging from your basic cruiser to revamped Peugeots. City Cycle Works is a great place to check out if your looking for that spare bike for out of town friends, or your own new mode of transportation at an affordable price. The shop sometimes holds odd hours, but the owner is a quick phone call away if you get a flat on your scenic tour of the Greenway (this is New Orleans after all).

Plush Appeal

Plush Appeal is a one-stop shop Mardi Gras supply store. This warehouse space has got all things Mardi Gras, from bulk beads to decorations and party supplies. This is THE place to visit to fill all of your Carnival season needs. Whether you’re looking for throws for your kids’ school parade, or a new mask to wear to the Zulu Ball, they’ve got everything you need (and for your mom’an‘dem). Plush Appeal also offers same day shipping, which is a great option when you need to send a Mardi Gras themed care package to your homesick loved ones living out of town. Remember, while we’re partying on Mardi Gras, everywhere else it’s just another Tuesday.

Pitot House

The Pitot House is nestled along a quiet stretch of Bayou St. John, blocks away from City Park and St. Louis Cemetery No. 3. The home was constructed in the late 18th century, mainly utilized as a personal residence throughout its existence. Today, the property is open to public tours and serves as headquarters to the Louisiana Landmarks Society. A tour of the Pitot House offers a look back into daily life of post-colonial New Orleans. The grounds are available for rent for special events. This is a splendid place for visitors to visit and explore New Orleans’ rich culture and history.
