The witching season is upon us! While you’re buying all the fun-size Snickers and decorating the yard with ghosts and skeletons – check out all the other activities we found for kids and grown-ups! Some of these are outside of New Orleans, but they were too good not to mention!
Family Events
- September 27 Fall Fest & Day of Play Explore eight acres of gardens, trick or treat at the doors of Longue Vue, and dress to impress with your best costume. This year, we are excited to participate in Nickelodeon’s Our World: Worldwide Day of Play presented partnership with the Association of Children’s Museums!
- October 12, 19, 26 Sugar Roots Farm Pumpkin Fest Pumpkin patch, pony rides, tractor rides, live music, costume contest, games and activities, and a free pumpkin for every child!
- October 16-19 Ghosts in the Oaks: Monster Mash at City Park This Halloween, City Park invites you and your little ghouls to a spooktacular family friendly celebration at Ghost in the Oaks. Four nights of frightful fun featuring a new trick-or-treat path, unlimited Amusement Park rides, festive activities and live entertainment.
- October 17-19 Boo At The Zoo Bring your little ghosts and goblins to Boo at the Zoo benefitting Manning Family Children’s and Audubon Zoo! This safe family-fun Halloween tradition is a daytime celebration with your favorite Zoo animals.
- October 18 Trunk or Treat at Lafreniere Park Trunk or Treat will feature over 45 vehicles giving out free candy, a food court, carousel rides, and space walks.
- October 25 Boo Carre Halloween Haunt This one-day kid-centric event encourages costumes for all ages and will feature live music, children’s activities, a spooktacular Spooky Second Line, and trick-or-treating. Children wearing a costume are eligible to receive a free Boo Carre tote bag for trick-or-treating in the French Market District. One bag per child, while supplies last. This event is free and open to the public.
- October 25-26 Loop NOLA Trick or Treat Treasure Hunt During the Treasure Hunt event, families receive a map and go on a Treasure Hunt through Couturie Forest in City Park to find where spooky characters have hidden their sugary treats. Along the route, treasure hunters will complete pirate challenges and learn nature facts. After the Treasure Hunt, there are concessions for sale at the Fall Festival along with additional games and fun.

- October 11-12 World Oddities Expo The World Oddities Expo is a traveling oddities festival- a peculiar paradise where weird thrives!
- October 14 Twilight In Concert A 12-piece ensemble of outstanding rock and orchestral musicians will take the stage, performing the beloved film score in perfect harmony with the movie, which will be screened in its entirety on a full-size cinema screen.
- October 24, 25, 30 New Orleans Ballet Theatre Presents: Dracula
- October 25 Spooky Terrarium Garden Workshop Join Leigh Gradiz, Head Gardener at Longue Vue for this spooky garden workshop! Open to all ages.
- October 25 Krewe of Boo Parade
- October 25 Howl-O-Weenie This is THE Dog Costume Contest of the Season; THE place to see fabulous dogs and to be seen looking fabulous! Dress up your pup and grab the friends & fam for good times, great photo ops, and hopefully plenty of SCRIM COSTUMES!!!
- October 29 The Rocky Horror Picture Show 50th Anniversary Tour! Join the original ‘Columbia’ – NELL CAMPBELL – for a screening of the original unedited movie with a live shadow cast and audience participation! Plus a costume contest, and more!
For the Grown-Ups
- October 11 Mermaids & Mayhem Mermaids and Mayhem rise once more for its twelfth annual haunting, summoned from the depths by the Sirens of New Orleans! All net proceeds will support the incredible work of the Beignet Fest Foundation.
- October 23 Fat Cats Ball Don your finest costume and dance the night away with decadent dishes, open bar, mystical mocktails, raffles, games, costume contest, kitties of course & more! It’s the best way to celebrate the spirit of the spooky season while benefiting the most magical kitties around!
- October 24-25 Brews and Boos City Park Conservancy’s adults-only Halloween fundraiser features unlimited Amusement Park rides and open beer bars.
- October 24-26 Halloween New Orleans Join for a weekend of divine revelry and legendary entertainment, all in support of Project Lazarus, as we celebrate 42 years of Halloween New Orleans.
- October 25 Krewe of Boo Monster Mash Following the Krewe of BOO! parade, krewe members and parade-goers join in the after-parade costume party “Monster Mash” featuring costume contests, drink specials, and live entertainment.
- October 26 Vivacious Burlesque Experience: Devil’s Night The 4th annual Vivacious Burlesque Experience: DEVIL’S NIGHT brings you an all new, high caliber Creature Feature, starring the Queen of Halloween, RedRum, alongside burlesque royalty, Willy LaQueue, for an explosive ensemble show, on the big stage for one night only.
- October 31 Anne Rice Vampire Ball Join Anne Rice’s Vampire Lestat Fan Club for the 37th Anniversary Ball in honor of Memnoch the Devil— Anne Rice’s most haunting descent into Heaven and Hell.
- October 31 + November 1 Hells Gala At Hell’s Gala 2025, we will have one foot in the grave and one at the rave as we celebrate Dia De Los Muertos at Mardi Gras World!
