I say there’s got to be some good reason
For your little black backpack
Part of the Uptown area, East Carrollton is a true mixed-use neighborhood. You’re going to find a splattering of businesses on Maple Street and even tucked away on residential corners. Restaurants, bars, cobblers, coffee shops, and jewelry designers can all be found in the East Carrollton area.
Why so many commercial businesses in this little New Orleans neighborhood? East Carrollton is walking distance to Tulane University. (and Loyola is not much further!) The promise of business from co-eds, professors, and other professionals nearby keeps Maple Street buzzing from morning to night. If you prefer something quieter, check out Nix Library – it’s been open since 1930.
Close to the neighborhood are Audubon Park, Palmer Park, and The Fly as well.
The streetcar line has been servicing this neighborhood since the 1800s too! Whether you want to jump on at Carrollton or St. Charles, you’ve got options.
While East Carrollton is home to many Victorian-style homes, it’s more common to find Craftsman and cottages here. Most doubles in the area have not been converted to singles, as they are typically housing for students and professors.
Lagniappe: Rumor is that a rogue peacock wanders the streets of East Carrollton.
