Fantastically Fontainebleau

The New Orleans neighborhood of Fontainebleau is a mainly residential area. Their commercial businesses are largely located in the same spot – which is great for your one-stop shopping! You can find the majority clustered all in at Calhoun and Claiborne. Here are my current top 3!

Elio’s Wine Warehouse

Elio’s Wine Warehouse has been open for 25 years. This is a no-frills stop for a massive selection of wine, beer, & spirits. The short time I was there to grab a bottle and chat with the manager, Tim, they had a stream of people in and out the door. They have a loyal customer base that keeps them busy. Those happy customers love Elio’s because their customer service is exceptional. There wasn’t a question they didn’t have an answer for. When I asked what the hottest wines are right now, I was told it’s still rosé. (Which I have just purchased from them!)

Crescent City Comics

Crescent City Comics welcomed this second location in Fontainebleau about a year and a half ago. I was greeted by Richard, who immediately told me about their holiday party coming up. It’s December 16th, with free beer & drinks, from 6 pm – til!

One of the super cool things is that they have their logo painted on the ceiling, a la Sistine Chapel. They sell comics, figurines, graphic novels, Pokemon cards, magic cards, board games, and even t-shirts from local artists. Every Wednesday is when the new comics are released, and they are open every day of the week!

Make sure Richard shows you the graphic novel about Kermit Ruffins & Irvin Mayfield in the house.
