Halloween in New Orleans

 

Fall is upon us! (Allegedly. These temps might say otherwise…) Never mind that it’s still hitting 90 degrees – it’s time for spooky season and other fun stuff! Check out things to do in New Orleans this October.

 

 

Kids Activities 

 

October 20-22:  Boo at the Zoo Celebrate Halloween with your little ghosts and goblins at Boo at the Zoo, benefiting Children’s Hospital New Orleans and Audubon Zoo! This family-fun Halloween tradition is a daytime celebration with your favorite Zoo animals. Safe and friendly Trick or Treating, Seasonal crafts to make and take home, Weave your way through the A-MAZE-ing Maze, A spooky Haunted House, Themed photo opportunities, Food trucks featuring local fare. 

 

October 21:  Boo Carre Halloween Haunt. The French Market District’s annual free one-day kid-centric event encourages costumes for all ages and will feature live music, children’s activities, a spooktacular Spooky Second Line, and trick-or-treating. Children wearing a costume are eligible to receive a free Boo Carre tote bag for trick-or-treating in the French Market District. One bag per child while supplies last. This event is free and open to the public.

 

October 21 Lafreniere Park Boo-2-U Bring the kids to this huge Halloween event!! There will be games, spacewalks, carousel rides, a Halloween egg hunt, DJ, food, lots of vendors for local shopping, and lots of setups to take pictures. After this event, trick or trunk will take place from 6:00-9:00.Two events in one day. 

 

October 22 & 29 Sugar Roots Farm Pumpkin Fest This year’s fest will include a pumpkin patch, music, hay rides, pony rides, games, costume contest, concessions and more!

 

October 28 Ghouls & Goblins Tea Bring your littlest ghouls and goblins along for a scary good time. Children will enjoy festive holiday themed snacks in The Davenport Lounge.

 

October 28 Longue Vue Fall Fest Join us for a beautiful fall afternoon filled with harvest crafts, lawn games, and trick-or-treating at the many doors of Longue Vue, plus individual and family costume contests!

 

 

For the Grown Ups

 

October 27 Anne Rice Official Vampire Ball “The Witching Hour” Join Anne Rice’s Vampire Lestat Fan Club for the 35th Annual Gathering of the Coven at our lavish Masquerade Ball. Open premium bar. 

 

October 27-28 Brews and Boos Brews and Boos features adults-only access to City Park amusement park and a GHASTLY amount of beer for guys and ghouls 21+. VIP features a full open bar, seating, and special treats.

 

October 21 Krewe of Boo’s Monster Mash Monster Mash is the Krewe of Boo’s official parade after-party. We morph the energy from the streets into a whole new animal that goes off the chain!

 

 

For Everyone

 

October 20-23, 27-29 Loop NOLA Trick or Treat Treasure Hunt Back for the 4th year, we present the annual LOOP NOLA Trick or Treat Treasure Hunt! Never gone trick-or-treating through wooded trails in City Park? Here’s your chance for a family friendly adventure you’re sure to remember. Families receive a map and set off to find where spooky characters have hidden their candy troves. Costumes are encouraged! All experience levels and ages are welcome. Children must be accompanied by an adult. The Treasure Hunt lasts around an hour, with optional activities like games and s’mores available when you return from your adventure.

 

October 21 Krewe of Boo Parade

 

October 27 Halloween Sip & Skate Join us for a FREE, family & pet friendly event that’ll have you howling with delight! Bring your skates and enjoy delicious beers and tasty eats from Parish Third & NOLA Cookie Co. along with a meet and greet with the Big Easy Roller Derby. And don’t forget to unleash your inner monster for our epic costume contest!

 

October 28 Howl-O-Ween Dog Costume Contest   HOWL-O-WEENIE is here, and it is THE DOG COSTUME CONTEST of the Halloween Season!! Join us on the runway at Dat Dog to see dressed up pups strut the “dog walk.”
