St. Anthony & Milneburg are subdistricts are of the Filmore neighborhood in New Orleans. They are close to the lake, a quick ride to City Park, and have easy access to the interstate. They are both considered some of the most affordable neighborhoods left in the city.

Canseco’s Market is a locally owned and operated grocery store, with several locations throughout the city. Their store on the corner of Elysian Fields Ave. and Filmore Ave. opened in 2009, bringing much needed access to grocery essentials and fresh produce to the neighborhood. The shop is small but well stocked, and features a deli counter that serves up hot food and po-boys. They carry all the usual essentials, from locally produced meats to frozen foods and household goods. Remember to shop local, ya’ll!
John Gendusa Bakery has been in the bread baking business since 1922. The bakery is family owned and operated, having begun the po-boy bread tradition several generations ago. Gendusa is mainly a wholesale business, supplying Italian style breads to several sandwich shops throughout New Orleans. A mainstay of the neighborhood for years, Gendusa delivery trucks can be seen lined up outside the bakery everyday, ready to bring their fresh bread to businesses daily. If you’re in the neighborhood, feel free to knock on their door and buy a loaf to bring home to the family.
Levee Exhibit Hall and Garden is a memorial dedicated to educating the public and debunking myths about the Hurricane Katrina disaster and the events surrounding it. Located at the east breach site of the London Avenue Canal, the exhibit consists of six informational panels underneath a covered walkway, and a garden composed of native plants. The informational panels feature photographs and a brief timeline of the events that took place throughout the city of New Orleans during and after Hurricane Katrina. Exhibit Hall offers a unique educational opportunity for residents, and serves as a reminder of the endurance of the people of New Orleans.
