Interior Trends: Summer 2019

Team Be New Orleans sees a lot of houses every week – big, small, updated, and retro. As your New Orleans real estate agents, we find that you begin to see lots of the same trends in renovated homes. Subway tiles, the same shade of paint, flooring that similar in every home – these are all home trends that even the casual real estate glancer will begin to pick up on.

We are in the business of helping you buy and sell homes in New Orleans, so naturally, we love fabulous interior design. (Heather of Team Be New Orleans is pretty amazing at picking out paint colors and other home options.)

Be New Orleans has asked interior design guru Alex Robinson, of A. Robinson Interiors, what trends we should be on the lookout for and what is starting to fade away.

What’s HOT

Layered looks with wall-coverings are on trend! Patterned wallpaper, tiling, wood paneling, vertical gardens, and geometric painting patterns are the best ways to easily create a layered look while also bringing texture and color into your space, especially small spaces.

If you feel like a wall in your home is looking empty try going for something that will cover the entire wall rather than simply hanging a painting or piece of artwork. After you’ve covered the wall in something you absolutely love, you can begin “layering” the look with artwork and accent pieces like you normally would. Trust me, it makes a huge difference!

What’s NOT

I’m finding that cool grays are going out of style. That grey/blue is hard to work with and tends to look cold. You’ll want to go with something warmer like Sherwin William’s “Modern Gray.”

Team Be New Orleans’ Picks

If you want to get super swanky and opt for a patterned wallpaper, our favorite is the City Park Style from Flavor Paper.

Alexa Pulitzer has some wallpapers that will make you swoon too.

Looking for another shade of grey? We love Sherwin Williams’ Passive and Benjamin Moore’s Metropolitan.
