St. Roch is a New Orleans neighborhood named after the patron saint of dogs & dog lovers – which is perfect for this part of town! You can generally find someone someone strolling up St. Roch Avenue with their pooch in tow. St. Roch is mainly residential with some gorgeous churches and cemeteries speckled across their landscape.
Check out a couple of their fantastic businesses!
Mystic Krewe Pinball Parlor is a social club dedicated, among other things, to bringing access to old school pinball games back to the public. The krewe itself is based around many activities and events, with fun being at the center of their mission. With this in mind, the krewe has worked hard to open New Orleans’ only vintage pinball arcade inside Kebab restaurant in the St. Roch neighborhood. The arcade is open to the public during regular restaurant hours, and features several classic pinball games. This funky spot is a great place for a casual date night, or a friendly pinball competition. And, Kebab puts out some tasty Mediterranean food to satisfy your cravings-don’t forget to try the fries and aioli, as they are a must have!
St. Roch Market as we know it today opened in 2015, bringing a modern food hall into the renovated building that once housed a historical seafood market in the St. Roch neighborhood before Hurricane Katrina. The market is a bustling center offering a range of cuisine from Mexico inspired tacos to Haitian specialties. Be sure to check out Mayhaw bar for happy hour, or stop at Coast Roast Coffee for an afternoon caffeine boost. The Market holds several special events for the community throughout the year, and is available to rent for private events. St. Roch is a great spot for a quick bite or a relaxing evening with friends.
