Gorgeously Garden District

The Garden District is home to some of the most elaborate houses in all of New Orleans. Daily, you can find groups of tourists roaming the streets and snapping pictures of houses they will never find back home. If you’re looking for an area that is easily walkable, then the Garden District fits the bill. Between delicious dining options, a grocery store close by, funky local shops, & breathtaking architecture – there are a hundred reasons to love living here. Let’s check in with some of our local businesses!

Garden District Book Shop

Garden District Book Shop has been locally owned & operated for 35 years. There is no need to head to a big box bookstore when this little shop gives you everything you need – a great general bookstore with a heavy hitting local selection. The shop has a cozy & relaxed feel. It would be the perfect spot to curl up on a rainy afternoon with a new book and a coffee from Still Perkin‘. They offer a monthly book club that meets the second Wednesday each month. Garden District Books even hosts approximately 150 book signings a year, including some off-site & ticketed events.

Zele NOLA

Only open for 3 years now, Zele NOLA is an enclosed gallery with the feel of an open air market. It’s a bright space featuring handmade items by local artisans. With high quality items, this is the spot in the Garden District for buying gifts. Everything is handmade from clothing & costumes to jewelry & wall art. For the Earth conscious, there are plenty of upcycled & environmentally friendly options. Their staff is super helpful and supportive of the local artists. Many artists offer work by commission and encourage them to contact them directly.
