As many people move to our area for their residencies, we wanted to provide info about New Orleans homes near hospitals.
From New Orleans to Metairie to the West Bank, we will help guide you to a neighborhood that makes getting to work that much quicker!
Hospital #1: University Medical Center
This is one of the most popular hospitals that have doctors moving to New Orleans.
Neighborhoods closest to the University Medical Center are Mid-City, Bayou St. John, Treme, and the Fairgrounds. However, we would also suggest Lakeview and Broadmoor as well. Both of those areas are a quick jaunt to UMC.
Hospital #2: Children’s Hospital
Children’s Hospital is nestled into a residential spot in Uptown New Orleans. More specifically, it’s part of the Audubon neighborhood. Other great areas to consider that are close by are Riverside, Black Pearl, Carrollton, East Carrollton, Garden District, Irish Channel, and Lower Garden District.
Hospital #3: Touro Hospital
Touro Hospital is, coincidentally, found in the Touro neighborhood of New Orleans. You can easily hop on the streetcar or even walk to many restaurants nearby. Adjacent neighborhoods that would be great alternatives are Milan, Riverside, Uptown, Garden District, LGD, Irish Channel, and Central City.
Hospital #4: New Orleans East Hospital
If you’re moving to NOLA and going to be working at the New Orleans East Hospital, we would suggest for your closest neighborhoods either staying in New Orleans East or exploring Venetian Isles or Gentilly. Slidell is also close to the hospital, though it is a different city.
Hospital #5: Tulane Medical Center
Not too far from University Medical Center, we would suggest the same neighborhoods if you’re moving the New Orleans for your residency.
The closest areas to Tulane Medical Center are Mid-City, Bayou St. John, Treme, and the Fairgrounds. We would also encourage you to explore condo life in the CBD & Warehouse District.
Hospital #6: VA Hospital
Neighbors to University Medical Center, Team Be New Orleans would recommend checking out similar neighborhoods to the other ones recommended.
Neighborhoods closest to the VA Hospital are Mid-City, Bayou St. John, Treme, and the Fairgrounds.
Hospital #7: East Jefferson General Hospital
East Jefferson General Hospital finds itself in a New Orleans suburb called Metairie. It’s only 15-20 minutes to get back into the city – but some doctors moving here would prefer the ‘burbs for easy access to work.
Hospital #8: West Jefferson Medical Center
West Jefferson Medical Center is also found in the suburbs of New Orleans – specifically in Marrero. To remain within a 15-minute drive to the hospital, we strongly recommend living on the Westbank. Algiers, Gretna, Harvey, Terrytown, and Marrero are all within close proximity to the building.
