  • What: 53rd Annual Greasing of the Poles
  • Where: The Royal Sonesta, 300 Bourbon St
  • Time: 10:00am
  • Info/Lagniappe: The Royal Sonesta originated the greasing of the building’s support poles as a practical means to deter overzealous revelers from shimmying up to the hotel’s coveted balcony space. Now considered the official kickoff of Mardi Gras weekend in the French Quarter, the Greasing of the Poles has become a time-honored carnival tradition.

  • What: 4th Annual Krewe of Not for Everybody Ball
  • Where: New Orleans Neon Art Museum, 3252 Chippewa 
  • Time: 9:00pm-1:00am
  • Info/Lagniappe: Join the Neon Museum Krewe for their 4th Annual Krewe of Not for Everybody Ball at their neon warehouse. Come dance and let your light shine under the neon lights. Theme is “Dirty Queens Only”. Costume required. DJ Eugene Oubliette

This year’s bash features The Topcats, Category 6, the Molly Ringwalds, Bag of Donuts, and Mannie Fresh! Come on out and get ready for Bacchus! The bash goes from noon ’til!
