  • Where: The Saenger Theatre, 134 Basin

  • What: Horses, Hops & Cops
  • Where: N.O.P.D. Stables, 1021 Harrison Ave
  • Time: 3:30pm-8:00pm
  • Info/Lagniappe: Join us for the 14th annual Horses, Hops & Cops, a benefit for the N.O.P.D. Mounted Unit. Meet the world-famous Budweiser Clydesdales at this fun-filled event that is free for all ages to attend. Guests will enjoy touring the horse stables, as well as an equestrian soccer game featuring the N.O.P.D. horses, live local entertainment, arts and crafts, plus food and beverages for sale!

  • What: Birth of a Culture 
  • Where: Orpheum Theatre, 129 Roosevelt 
  • Time: 7:30pm
  • Info/Lagniappe: Big Chief Juan Pardo joins the LPO for a world premiere by Maxim Samarov which celebrates the unique, distinct, and remarkable culture of Mardi Gras Indians found in New Orleans. The performance will also include a new composition by Arlene Sierra and Wynton Marsalis’ Blues Symphony.

Friday, January 26th

  • What: 90’s Trivia Night 
  • Where: Emporium Arcade Bar, 2231 Saint Claude
  • Time: 7:00-10:00pm
  • Info/Lagniappe: All proceeds from 90s Trivia Night will go towards youth outreach for job placement, free training, and certifications. Packed with facts about your favorite pop culture moments of the millennium’s last decade, this event offers so much nostalgia that you’ll feel like a kid again. And, the winner will receive a prize with a $50 value!

Saturday, January 27th

  • What: Algiers Mardi Gras Festival
  • Where: Federal City, 2300 General Meyer
  • Time: 10:00am-6:00pm
  • Info/Lagniappe: Get into the Mardi Gras spirit with a community parade, food, and lots of music. A community parade kicks off the event at 9 a.m. honoring this year’s Grand Marshal. The parade will feature local Algiers schools marching bands, cultural groups, and dance groups. The parade starts at Lamarque Street and L.B. Landry Avenue, then turns right on Newton Street/General Meyers then a left into the Federal City Grounds.

  • What: The ‘Tit Rex Parade
  • Where: St. Roch Ave + Marais 
  • Time: 4:00pm
  • Info/Lagniappe: Tiny floats, tiny throws, miniature animals, and 5 brass bands with BIG hearts. We can’t wait to see your smiling faces along the route!
