  • What: MYB City Park Shakeout Run/Walk
  • Where: New Orleans Museum of Art, 1 Collins Diboll Cir
  • Time: 6:00-7:15pm
  • Info/Lagniappe: Join us for a casual run or walk as we make our way around beautiful City Park. We meet at the benches near Big Lake on Lelong Drive to stretch before we run/walk as a community, supporting each other along the way. We encourage you to hydrate prior to coming out.

Tuesday, August 1st

  • What: #IAmNewOrleans Mural Unveiling
  • Where: Andrew P. Sanchez & Copelin-Byrd Multi-Service Center, 1616 Fats Domino
  • Time: 11:30am-12:30pm
  • Info/Lagniappe: I Am New Orleans is a community-led effort designed to inspire conversation and action in creating a more equitable city for its children and families. To create the mural’s design, we held community listening sessions at the center. Residents of all ages shared what equity means to them and their aspirations for New Orleans and its children and families. Their feedback resulted in a colorful mural that beautifully brings to life the people and culture that make the Lower 9th Ward so unique.

  • What: Sweet Bird of Youth by Tennesse Williams 
  • Where: Marigny Opera House, 725 St Ferdinand 
  • Time: 7:30-10:00pm
  • Info/Lagniappe: TWTC presents Tennessee Williams’ Sultry Blockbuster! 2.5 Hours. One intermission. This production is made possible by a generous grant by The New Orleans Theater Association. Please note: – This production contains adult themes.

  • What: “Doomscrolling” Puppetry Performance
  • Where: John Thompson Legacy Center, 1212 Saint Bernard 
  • Time: 8:00-9:30pm
  • Info/Lagniappe: This 30 minute, all ages performance is built entirely from reclaimed materials, and features the many monsters that inhabit the gallery walls of Leroy’s Place, a monster art gallery located on Royal St. Join us after the show for a presentation and Q&A by Healthy Gulf to find out about great initiatives to save our beautiful Gulf Coast. Family friendly (recommended ages 5+ )

  • What: Satchmo Summer Fest
  • Where: New Orleans Jazz Museum, 400 Esplanade
  • Time: 11:30am-8:00pm
  • Info/Lagniappe: The two-day celebration is one of the only festivals in the world dedicated to honoring Louis Armstrong and features 2 stages of music, a delicious culinary lineup featuring Louisiana restaurants, and an incredible indoor lecture series poised to educate guests on Armstrong’s history and enduring impact.
