  • What: Hands-on Creole New Orleans Cooking Class 
  • Where: Southern Food & Beverage Museum, 1504 Oretha Castle Haley
  • Time: 11:00am-1:00pm
  • Info/Lagniappe: Presented by Dee Lavigne, SoFAB’s Director of Culinary Programming, the demonstration class offers an in-depth look into how to create delicious, traditional dishes that can be found nowhere else in the world, while discussing their cultural and historical origins. The class includes a curator-led tour of the museum.

  • What: Edgar Degas in New Orleans | Rory O’Neill-Schmitt and Rosary O’Neill
  • Where: New Orleans Museum of Art, 1 Collins Diboll CIr
  • Time: 5:30-7:00pm
  • Info/Lagniappe: NOMA is excited to present an author talk with Rory O’Neill-Schmitt and Rosary O’Neill for their new book “Edgar Degas in New Orleans” published by the History Press and available in the NOMA Museum Shop. Join us for a talk in the gallery featuring “Portrait of Estelle Musson Degas” by Edgar Degas on the second floor at 6 pm. The authors will be available for book signing prior to the talk at 5:30 pm and following the talk at 6:30 pm in the NOMA Museum Shop.

Thursday, June 29th

  • What: R&B Paint and Sip Party 
  • Where: Astro Crowne Plaza Hotel, 739 Canal
  • Time: 8:00-11:00pm
  • Info/Lagniappe: 21+ When you arrive, you’ll receive a pair of special wireless headphones. You can adjust the volume and choose between up to three DJ’s with a flip of a switch. Each headset has a color LED that shows what channel you are listening to. It’s super social; you’re in control of the music! There will be a painting station set up where you will begin your painting journey. 2 different pieces of art to choose from, and a whole lot of fun during the process. Sit back, relax, listen to some nice R&B music, and paint the night away.

  • What: Drum Talk: The Kongo to Congo Square
  • Where: New Orleans Jazz Museum, 400 Esplanade 
  • Time: 2:00-3:00pm
  • Info/Lagniappe: A discussion of Kongolese drum rhythms and African retentions in contemporary Black Masking Indian traditions. The presentation will include performances by each panelist as well as, one selection by Papa Titos and the Sankofa Saturday Scholars.

  • What: Glizzy Jamboree
  • Where: Port Orleans Brewing, 4124 Tchoupitoulas 
  • Time: 12:00-5:00pm
  • Info/Lagniappe: Join us on July 2 for the inaugural Glizzy Jamboree at POB. We’re going to have a full day of hotdogs, live music, competitions, beer, and more all supporting Animal Rescue New Orleans (ARNO)!
