  • Where: Crescent Park Dog Run Parking Lot, 3900 Chartres

  • Info/Lagniappe: Join us for a casual run or walk as we make our way up & down the Mississippi River at Crescent Park. We meet inside the park by the dog run to stretch before we run/walk as a community, supporting each other along the way.

Tuesday, November 28th

  • What: Support Your Roots Parade + Block Party
  • Where: Lil Dizzy’s Cafe 504, 1259 N Robertson
  • Time: 5:30pm
  • Info/Lagniappe: This day of giving will include a parade stretching from our home base at 1020 N Prieur St starting at 5:30 and ending at Li’l Dizzy’s Cafe. From there, tickets to enter our block party will be $25 and will include food. Li’l Dizzy’s will have a cash bar up and running for alcoholic beverages! Not only will the $25 from your ticket be directly donated to The Roots of Music, but we will also have a raffle that will also benefit the program. The evening promises to be one full of good music, amazing food, memorable connections, and fun!

  • What: Walkin’ Talk: An Evening Gallery Talk with Thomas Manna
  • Where: New Orleans Museum of Art, 1 Collins Diboll Circle

  • Info/Lagniappe: Join sculptor and jeweler Thomas Mann for a conversation on Rings Redux: The Susan Grant Lewin Collection. Mann is featured in Lewin’s 1994 book One of a Kind: American Art Jewelry Today. In his talk, Mann will address the American and International Craft movements, makers, and issues of wearability in art jewelry among other topics.

  • What: The Brandy Crusta & The Bersaglieri: Lecture & Tasting with Charles Marsala
  • Where: Historic BK House & Gardens, 1113 Chartres
  • Time: 6:00-8:00pm
  • Info/Lagniappe: The captivating presentation will introduce attendees to the influence of Italian bartender, Joseph Santini, of the original Jewel of the South Bar as inventor of the Brandy Crusta in the 1850s, and the thrilling story of how Santini, along with 280 Italians, many members of the elite Bersaglieri, protected the French Quarter during the Union Navy occupation in 1862. The lecture by Charles Marsala will include a tasting of the acclaimed cocktail.

Upon entering the grounds, you will experience a German Christmas with festive live music and beautiful Christmas lights in the evening. Along with shopping, enjoy German foods, desserts and of course Glühwein (mulled wine) to keep warm and complete the experience. Plus, you may even get to see Nikolaus (Santa)!

  • Info/Lagniappe: Krewe of Krampus is returning to a walking parade on the streets of New Orleans after two years of pivoting to a stationary parade, Krampus NOLAuf 2023 is poised to be even bigger than ever. Bring a new, unwrapped toy to the parade and let’s help the Marines hit their goal of getting the toys in the hands of 50,000 boys and girls of New Orleans. Place in the toy float or hand it to a Marine as they pass by.
