  • What: The Trail They Blazed 
  • Where: TEP Center, 5909 St Claude 
  • Time: 10:00am-2:00pm
  • Info/Lagniappe: Featuring more than 1,000 square feet of historic visuals and more than 40 sound bites, visitors can hear and read stories about boycotts, public school desegregation, the march on City Hall, voter registration and activism in the Desire neighborhood straight from the people who lived them. It’s a traveling exhibit built collaboratively with the community that participated in the local Civil Rights Movement and those working to preserve its legacy.

  • What: Iron Chef Yia Vang Pop-Up at Mister Mao
  • Where: Mister Mao, 4501 Tchoupitoulas 
  • Time: 6:00pm
  • Info/Lagniappe: TV personality, and highly decorated chef Yia Vang is currently the owner/chef of the James Beard-nominated restaurant Union Hmong Kitchen located in Graze Food Hall in North Loop Minneapolis and soon to be opening Vinai specializing in Hmong cuisine.

  • What: Spicy Bits: Hot Sauce + Improv Comedy
  • Where: Big Couch, 1045 Desire
  • Time: 8:00-11:00pm
  • Info/Lagniappe: Spicy Bits is a unique hour-long comedy show featuring improvisers performing short-form games and eating food covered in hot sauce. As the show goes on, the games get harder, and the sauces get hotter. Imagine “Who’s Line Is it Anyway?” meets “Hot Ones.”
