  • What: Mean Girls- a totally fetch screening event
  • Where: The Broad, 600 N Broad
  • Time: 7:00pm
  • Info/Lagniappe: The Broadside is throwing a Mean Girls Day party to put Cady’s Halloween rager to shame, and it’d be social suicide for you to not be there. Festivities and interactive elements all night long include: Snap a “really pretty” pic in the official Mean Girls Day photo booth! (So you agree, you think you’re really pretty…), Make up an entry for the interactive Burn Book! (You let it out, honey…put it in the book.), Enjoy drink specials inspired by June George! (If you’re gonna drink, we’d rather you do it in the house.), Test your fandom with movie trivia! (And there’s nothing to break your focus, ‘cuz not one of those Marymount guys is cute.), Enter the costume contest for a chance to take home a prize! (Yes, you’re allowed to dress like a total slut and no one is allowed to say anything.), And of course, the main event, Mean Girls on the delightful outdoor big screen (line-yelling encouraged!).

  • What: Pretty Woman: The Musical
  • Where: Saenger Theatre, 1111 Canal
  • Time: 7:30pm
  • Info/Lagniappe: PRETTY WOMAN: THE MUSICAL, based on one of Hollywood’s most beloved romantic stories of all time, springs to life with a powerhouse creative team led by two-time Tony Award®-winning director and choreographer Jerry Mitchell. Brought to the stage by lead producer Paula Wagner, the show features an original score by Grammy® winner Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance, and a book by the movie’s legendary director Garry Marshall and screenwriter J. F. Lawton.

Wednesday, October 5th

  • What: Craft Happy Hour: Sashiko Coasters with Lizz Freeman
  • Where: Ogden Museum of Southern Art, 925 Camp
  • Time: 6:00pm
  • Info/Lagniappe: Learn sashiko hand mending techniques with RicRACK‘s Lizz Freeman! Participants will make a set of unique cotton felt coasters by using the sashiko method. Sashiko (literally translated ‘little stabs’) is a type of traditional Japanese embroidery or stitching originally used to mend clothes, but has become a distinctive decorative design.

Thursday, October 6th

  • What: Zombie Paintball Hunt
  • Where: NOLA Motorsports, 11075 Nicolle Blvd
  • Time: Gates open at 5:30pm, must be in line by 9:00pm
  • Info/Lagniappe: You and your fellow hunters will be loaded onto the battle bus and driven through an interactive Zombie Apocalypse. Unlike a typical haunted house where ghosts and demons jump out and scare you, Zombie Paintball Hunt gears you up with rounds of ammo to hunt and kill real life Zombies from the battle bus.

  • What: Gentilly Fest
  • Where: Pontchartrain Park, 5701 Press Drive
  • Time: 6:00pm
  • Info/Lagniappe: Gentilly Fest celebrates all things “Gentilly,” including continuous live music on three stages, sumptuous food from a variety of local restaurants & caterers and fine arts and crafts for sale from many local vendors.

Saturday, October 8th

  • What: Japan Fest 2022
  • Where: New Orleans Museum of Art, 1 Collins Diboll Cir
  • Time: 11:00am
  • Info/Lagniappe: Organized by NOMA and the Japan Club of New Orleans, Japan Fest is the largest celebration of Japanese culture in the Gulf South. It’s a day to enjoy music and dance groups, martial arts demonstrations, tours of the Japanese art collection, craft vendors, and much more. Admission: $10 | FREE for NOMA members and anyone 19 yrs old and younger.
