Things to Know for The Eras Tour in New Orleans

Things to Know for The Eras Tour in New Orleans

Welcome to New Orleans, fellow Swifites! New Orleans is an incredible city, and there is so much to do beyond Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour. We know your time is limited, so we wanted to help you navigate the city and find other fun things to do!

Getting Around

Public Transportation; Download the Le Pass app. With Le Pass, you can easily buy your bus, streetcar and ferry passes right on your phone. To pay your fare, just tap to use a pass and then show your pass on your phone when you enter the vehicle. The new Le Pass app allows users to live track both RTA’s buses, streetcars, ferries, and JP Transit buses in Jefferson Parish. The RTA website has a trip planner option where you can put your current location and destination, and it will give you directions, including which bus line to jump on!

Blue Bikes; Blue Bikes is an affordable bikeshare program uniquely designed for New Orleans. How it works: Choose your plan and sign up for a Blue Bikes New Orleans membership through the mobile app. Tap Scan and scan the QR code on the handlebar. Remove the lock tether and secure it to the hook under the seat. Put on your helmet and enjoy the ride! To end your ride, lock your bike at a bike rack.

Rideshare: The city has Uber, Lyft, and KreweCar (an excellent option for families!)

United CabIf you’re going to take a cab, this is the only one I can call! And they take credit cards. 504-511-9771

Walking: Depending on your destination, it might just be easier to walk! There is a lot of road construction leading up to the city hosting the Super Bowl (and in general), so walking may be faster in some cases! Be prepared for longer wait times and full buses/streetcars with all the people in the city, in addition to the locals who use these services to get to and from work and home!

Know Where You’re Staying

Algiers Point, Garden District, Bywater, etc!

There’s something great to find no matter what area of the city you’re staying in. If you have time to explore and visit other places while in town for the concert, do it! You don’t have to go far. Find your neighborhood on our website to find some local businesses in the area where you’re staying!

Where to Eat

There are so many insanely delicious restaurants in this city that you really can’t go wrong. We HIGHLY recommend leaving the French Quarter and trying out other places like Saint John, Gris Gris, Peche, Sidecar, Avo, Sukeban, Toup’s, and Clesi’s—our list could go on and on!

Where to Drink

In New Orleans, you can have alcoholic drinks on the street. However, you cannot have glass bottles. Ask for a go-cup before leaving any bar, and they will hand you a plastic cup so you can take your drink to go!

We recommend avoiding hand grenades and hurricanes. They are sugary sweet and will leave you feeling less than great if you consume many of them. New Orleans has great craft cocktail bars, wine bars, and some of the best dive bars around. Check out our neighborhood guides for recommendations.

Other Things To Note

There will be THOUSANDS of people walking to and from the Superdome. You will not be alone. But, please, always keep an eye on your surroundings.

Wear comfy shoes! We have cobblestone streets and uneven sidewalks. You don’t wan to ruin your trip with a twisted ankle.

Don’t fall for any scams! If someone tries to bait you with “I bet I know where you got them shoes,” just reply with “On my feet” and keep walking. If a shot girl on Bourbon Street tries to give you a shot – don’t take it. You will have to pay for it!

Go explore and have the time of your life!

Need to know how far it is to walk to the Dome from each neighborhood? Nola.com put together a great piece for you!
