Why should I move to Algiers?

Move to New Orleans

Many people move to New Orleans and wonder what is the best New Orleans neighborhood to live in. Here at Be New Orleans – we think all of New Orleans neighborhoods offer something different and special. This is our dive into why you should consider moving to Algiers.

Much like the rest of New Orleans, Algiers is broken up into small neighborhoods. Some of these neighborhoods offer smaller homes, like raised cottages. While other neighborhoods have much larger homes, like Tudors.

Generations of families call Algiers home. (Even my grandma and parents still live there!) With prices for lots of budgets, housing styles to please a range of people, and it’s proximity to downtown – it’s no secret why people are heading to the Westbank.

Residential Feel

The better-known subdivisions of Tall Timbers, Park Timbers, Lakewood Estates, Bocage, and Walnut Bend are all situated in Algiers. There is also New Aurora, Old Aurora, Woodland Heights, and others.

You can still find children riding their bikes in the street, people going on strolls through the neighborhood, and lots of joggers on the levee.

Food, Parks, and More

Brechtel Park has a large pond, plenty of room for you to run around, and playground equipment. It is currently going through a renovation, but you can still go enjoy it!

Algiers has food options that range from chain restaurants to local, mom and pop shops.

To meet your fitness needs, you will find a variety of gyms in the area too! Krav Maga, CrossFit, and Planet Fitness are all nearby. You will find a group that jogs and bikes the Woodland bridge every Wednesday as well.

For health issues, no need to fret. Algiers has an Ochsner location, Urgent Care, a few dentists, and ophthalmologists.

If you need Fido to visit a vet, Algiers has that covered too.

The Algiers Library was recently renovated and is stunning!

Why else should I move to Algiers?

Oak tree-lined streets, neighbors waving hello, and a levee nearby to watch the river.
