Born and raised in New Orleans, Amy Cespedes is full of New Orleans pride.Loving all things about the Crescent City, she wanted to adorn a Christmas tree with ornaments that represented the city. Amy found herself wandering around downtown and seeing the same ones at every shop. They all had saxophones, or just the words “jazz” or “New Orleans.”
This was not what Amy wanted on her New Orleans themed tree. She then began making her own and realized that a market for these special ornaments existed. CopperFancy came to existence just because she wanted a better product than what she found out there.
You can now shop online for her products 24/7!
1. What products and services do you offer?
CopperFancy is an online retailer. CopperFancy designs, manufactures, and sells many New Orleans and Louisiana themed products with a focus on Christmas ornaments. The line of New Orleans ornaments are made of sculpted, hand-painted resin depicting New Orleans landmarks and culture. Some of my best-selling ornaments are the colorful and fun Fleur de Lis Ornaments, which feature many aspects of “NOLA” all in one ornament.
I also create oyster shell gifts for any occasion. Shells are hand selected, cleaned, then repurposed into Jewelry Dishes, Candle holders, and various oyster shell Christmas ornaments. Personalization is offered on many oyster shell products. The Christmas Nativity Ornament was new for Christmas 2018 and was a huge success with my customers. Look for the Three Wise Men Oyster Shell ornament this year!
Non-Christmas products include the oyster shell jewelry dishes and oyster shell candle holders; this makes them great “all year round” gifts.
Most products are “in ready stock” so they ship out quickly!
2. How long have you been in business?
The year the Saints won the Super Bowl! In 2010, I was so full of pride after that win and wanted to make a New Orleans themed Christmas tree. I couldn’t find cute ornaments. I went downtown and they were all the same. I decided to make my own in that moment.
I already knew how to sell products online, so I stayed on that path and opened at Etsy store.
3. How do people find you online?
4. What is lesser known about your business that you wish more people knew?
I volunteer at Children’s Hospital and donate items to the Hospital and other charities for fundraising.
