365 New Orleans: Gregg Mitchell

365 New Orleans is focused on local artists and businesses. Every single day, for one year, a new person or place will be highlighted. Follow along on Instagram: @365NewOrleans

Gregg Mitchell is a multifaceted New Orleans-based artist specializing in the Crescent City’s incredible landscapes, iconic buildings, and one of a kind architecture.
Despite being a native son, the allure of New Orleans charm isn’t lost on Gregg. He still sees the beauty of the city, and its neighborhoods and is always seeking new ways to portray this magical place.

While some artists focus solely on the French Quarter, Gregg seeks out the hidden gems, the lost corners and those pieces of local legend that truly make New Orleans unique far beyond the gator tours or the bacchanal of Bourbon Street.  Featured in Gregg’s artwork is the symbol of New Orleans, the Fleur De Lis, along with the scenes from some of the city’s most iconic places.

Gregg’s work has been featured alongside some of the many talents artists throughout New Orleans at festivals such as:

  • Gretna Fest
  • Freret Street Market
  • Oak Street Market
  • Gretna Artwalk
  • Nola on Tap
  • Bad to the Bone
  • Gretna Maifest
  • Freret Fest
  • Hot Air Balloon Fest
  • Gretna’s Ringing in the Arts

1. Tell me more!

I’m an artist that does a lot of architectural landscapes of New Orleans, for example the cathedral, St. Jospeh’s church, and Lafitte’s. In all of my art, you will find half of a fleur-de-lis in it somewhere.

I also draw Topps Trading Cards. I draw the Stranger Things and Star Wars cards.

Recently, I started making custom Vans (yes, the shoes) for people. From Saints themed to comic books characters to architecture, I can make your own pair.

2. How long have you been in business?

About 4 and half years.

3. How do people find you online?

3gartist.com, Facebook, and Instagram @3gartist

4. What is lesser known about your business that you wish more people knew?

I do all of my art really fast. Most of my pieces are done within a day. If you want to commission a piece, it can also be done quickly as long as there is no wait.

5. Lagniappe Info.

Come check out the Gretna Maifest “Stroll the Avenue”, which is a larger art walk in Old Gretna.

Orders for shoes have gone out to Denver, New York, and even Texas. I can ship them wherever.

In December 2018, I won Ringing In the Arts.

You can find me at Big Easy Con in June on the 1st and 2nd.
