New Roads, LA born and Alabama raised artist, Sigourney Morrison majored in fashion design when she headed off to college. As a youngster, Grandma taught her how to embroider. Always having a fondness for the style, Sigourney saved up her pennies and finally purchased herself a machine to make her unique design work.
Having lived in New Orleans for nine years now, it’s the perfect place for Sigourney to showcase her talents. Custom pieces are what keep her the busiest, but Sigourney manages to find time to keep her Etsy shop filled with fun items.
Check out this amazing video of her skills:
1. What products and services do you offer?
I use chain stitch embroidery to make custom pieces like patches, hats, and clothing. Mainly, it’s all custom work done on a vintage sewing machine but done by hand. It’s not computerized. If you’re looking for a fun design on your jackets, vests, and denim shirts, this is what you hire me for.
2. How long have you been in business?
I’ve been doing this for about 5 years now, but only have been on my own for 6 months.
3. How do people find you online?
4. What is lesser known about your business that you wish more people knew?
The possibilities for designs are endless. If I can draw it, or you can imagine it, I can make it. I find the hardest part for people is figuring what they want.
5. Lagniappe Info.
You can find me hosting pop-ups about once a month.
You can purchase my work at Anchor & Arrow and Miette right here in New Orleans or at Genterie in Lafayette.
