Westbank natives, Lisa & Jason LaFrance started Luminous Events by accident. They were planning their wedding and Lisa wanted lots and lots of candles but couldn’t find any event planner willing to offer this service. The two of them started scouring the New Orleans metro area for tons of candles and vases so they could decorate this themselves. After some folks saw the beautiful finished product, they contacted Lisa to see who decorated her wedding. She took this as an opportunity to start a candle decor rental company.
For the first 1.5 years, Luminous Events was just all about candles. Once they filled up their house and shed with candles and vases, they knew it was time for more space.
After grabbing a warehouse in Terrytown, the company grew from there. People would ask if they could provide a service and Lisa just kept saying yes. All those yeses turned Luminous Events into the amazing company it is today.
Fast forward to current day, where they plan about 240 events a year, Jason is in the warehouse building lighted signs and bars while Lisa’s keen eye for design and decor has her decorating every event they book.
1. Tell me about your business.
We are a wedding, corporate, and special events boutique decor rental company.
We basically do all the pretty stuff – the chandeliers, lounge chairs, etc. It’s very niche stuff.
We also have a full custom fabrication department that builds bars, boxwood hedge privacy walls, champagne walls, signs – whatever you can think of.
It’s decor, design, rentals, and production.

March 7, 2009. We are pushing ten years!

4. What is lesser known about your business that you wish more people knew?
That was a have the full-time, custom fabrication department. We can put your logo on anything. You dream it, we can build it.

We are very prideful of our customer service. Clients continue to come back to us because of the way we treat them. It’s very important to me that everyone feels great about their experience with us.
You really get to know our people when you have an event with us. You’re going to know Lisa, and Jason, and Caroline. We have a great crew and we want you to know them!
I also want to put people at ease when it comes to the budget. You don’t have to spend a fortune to have some beautiful pieces.
