I’m not pregnant, I had a burrito

April 5, 2018 is National Burrito Day! Let’s get real, the people of New Orleans will find any reason to celebrate things. We all like to fight over where the best of anything is in the Crescent City – so I crowdsourced and these were the clear winners.

Del Fuego Taqueria

Del Fuego has been at the top of my list for quite some time. The tequila menu is hard to beat. The owner/chef Dave Wright is always nearby with a smile. But, we are talking burritos. Ignore their fresh margs (don’t you dare!) and focus on what’s at hand. The Tres Hermanos burrito is named after the bar next door. This monstrosity is enough for you to have lunch tomorrow. Filled with chicken, pulled pork, carne asada, rice, beans, cheese, guacamole, and more – you can’t be disappointed. Throw some of the homemade hot sauce on top to take it to the next level.

Juan’s is a staple in a few New Orleans neighborhoods now. Surly waitstaff and strong drinks are the name of their game. With 14 options of burritos, they know what they’re doing in the back of the house. People keep coming back for their namesake burrito that’s filled with steak, shrimp, chicken, and other yummy stuff! My personal fave is the Wet burrito (Mojado) that is similar to an enchilada, but will fill you up without breaking the bank.

Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to remember how much you love a breakfast burrito too. They will smother your burrito in gravy!! Y’all. You just can’t get  a better breakfast burrito option. Wakin’ Bakin’ often does specials with different toppings. Between the food, French Truck coffee, and fantastic staff  – they are your hangover cure.
