ACME Studios was created by the lovely artist Jennifer Lindsley. From the moment meeting her, you can feel her creative energy exuding out of her. Her Gentilly home and workspace are filled with paint, glitter, brushes, and everything else in between. Jennifer’s place is heaven for all the crafty folks.
She created this workspace for artists of all ages and levels. Jennifer truly believes that there is an artist in everyone. Exploration through different mediums and explanation of techniques and styles is how she wants you to explore what art forms speak to you. It’s an amazingly fun environment with Jennifer guiding you. She has a background in theater that makes hanging out with her all the better.
Jennifer provides all the materials for her classes. You will have the opportunity to explore pencils, charcoal, pastels, watercolor, acrylics, oils, mosaics, murals, collage, papier-mache, decoupage, basic printmaking, and various craft techniques. Grab a friend and schedule a time!
1. Tell me about ACME Studios and yourself.
I illustrate children’s books. I am an artist for CVU NOLA. ACME stands for “A Creative Method of Expression”. You can come to my studio to get creative and make a mess. This way you can come and express yourself without having to buy all the supplies. While I am not an art therapist – art can be a form of therapy. Come and be crafty and work through some stuff. I also paint murals, pet portraits, furniture, make mosaics – just a little of everything.
2. How long have you been in business?
I had a gallery called ACME Gallery from 2001-2005. I then restarted with ACME studios in 2012. I have been an artist most of my life though.
3. How do people find you online?
4. What is lesser known about your business that you wish more people knew?
I can do large-scale projects too! I have done commercial murals for restaurants, architects, and the like.
5. Lagniappe Info.
Recently I have gotten more into lighting design. Those are super fun.
If you want a private event, we decide on a project (ornaments, paintings, etc) and then we schedule a 2-hour event with food, drinks, and art. It’s very chill. you can do it for birthday parties, baby showers, whatever you want!
