Riverside residents Alex Pericak and her husband Thomas were just really big nut butter fans. They often found themselves making it with their friends raving about great it was. COnutButter was born and could only be found at farmer’s markets in Colorado. Thomas’ job landed them in New Orleans three years ago and that’s when Alex took the concept to the retail level.
Alex is a certified nutrition therapy practitioner. She’s also a big advocate for organic coconut oil because of all of its health benefits.
COnutButter is produced in a facility in Norco, LA. Filled with real ingredients and no additives, thickeners, preservatives, or GMOs, it’s not surprising it is EatFit approved.
1. Tell me what COnut Butter is.
It’s slow-roasted nuts blended with organic, cold-pressed coconut oil. We then blend the two items. It’s a twist on classic peanut butter. Everything is plant-based including our spices and sweeteners.
We have three flavors right now – Maple Cinnamon Almond butter, Pure Sea Salt Almond Butter, and Salted Honey Peanut butter.
2. How long have you been in business?
3 and a half years we have been selling this in the retail capacity. We went from farmer’s markets in Colorado to over 40 retailers in Louisiana now.
3. How do people find you online?
4. What is lesser known about your business that you wish more people knew?
You can use them as a drizzle when they are at room temperature or more like a spread when refrigerated. It’s very versatile.
You can make pancakes with it too!

1/4 cup COnutButter of choice, best lightly chilled
1 large egg
1 Tsp Baking Powder
Mix ingredients until incorporated. Grease skillet or waffle maker with coconut oil and cook 1.4 cup portions over medium-high heat.
