With dreams of becoming a national brand, Little Hometown owner Marie Chisholm has grown her brand organically. When Marie was a new mom, she quickly fell in love with the swaddle. She adores them so much that she kept recommending them to other new parents.
Over the years she kept thinking of cute little sayings, like “Sugar & Spice & Red Beans & Rice” and “Southern Belle, She’ll Bless Your Heart.” Combining her love of New Orleans and a practical baby item that new parents need daily, Little Hometown was born.
Little Hometown is now based back in New Orleans and has customers all over the country. The blue crab and oyster blankets are popular with folks in Maryland and South Carolina. And, of course, the New Orleans ex-pats always want a piece of home. Grab one for your sweet baby and become a believer in Little Hometown!
1. What does Little Hometown make?
We make baby swaddles with a New Orlean and southern flair. Swaddles were always my favorite thing when I had my kids. But I wanted that special touch on it since it’s something you will use every day.
2. How long have you been in business?
3. How do people find you online?
4. What is lesser known about your business that you wish more people knew?
That it’s really a mom and pop kind of shop. I think sometimes people assume we are a much larger operation than we actually are base don their comments and emails. I handle all customer service and design the swaddles and packaging; mu husband helps pack the orders and delivers them to our retailers. When you buy from us, you are buying directly from a family.
5. Lagniappe Info.
We are in about 50 stores in Louisiana. If you take a look at our website, you can find us from Abbeville to Alexandria. We have fabulous retail partners.
We also make a burp cloth/snap bib combo. It’s a full-coverage bib. It’s extremely helpful for early eaters of solids.
This year we are launching pajamas too! We want to grow with our customers.
