In March 2014, Cherie Melancon Franz launched Thinkerella™ in Uptown New Orleans as a way to provide children with an exciting new way of learning. Originally developed for girls (Thinkerellas), the program quickly expanded to include boys (Thinkerfellas).
Created by this local mom, Thinkerella aims to inspire the next generation of makers, builders, shapers, doers, and inventors.
The program’s goal is to provide easily understood real-world examples and demonstrations of sometimes difficult topics, such as Newton’s Third Law of Motion. Thinkerella allows children to conduct safe, fun experiments that spark their curiosity and help them develop a life-long love of learning. Certified teachers write all curricula and lesson plans.

5. Lagniappe Info.
From September 2014 through December 2018, over three dozen elementary schools in the Greater New Orleans area have partnered with Thinkerella to launch ThinkerKids! after-school programs for their students. Teachers acting as facilitators and curricula developers for the programs earned approximately $70,000. The idea is to provide a stellar enrichment program to the children while also providing supplemental income to local teachers who already do so much for our kids.
