Where to Swim in New Orleans: 2019

LAWD! It’s HOT, y’all. I know… I scream this every year like I forgot how bad it can get.

If you aren’t lucky enough to have a New Orleans home with a pool – then we must find an alternative solution.

Take a look at where you can beat the heat this summer while taking a dip!

These pools are free to the public and open at least 6 days a week! (Some of the locations are open 7 days a week.) Swim classes, lap swimming, water aerobics, and more can be enjoyed. With 17 locations across the city, you and the family will be pleased!

Cool Zoo at Audubon Zoo

While the Cool Zoo is not a swimming pool, it offers so much more! They have a lazy river, water spouts, and a water slide. Hours are based on when the zoo is open (7 days a week though!) and it’s an additional fee with you pay for your zoo admission. Perfect spot to take the little ones while getting your feet wet.

The Country Club

Open 7 days a week with long hours, 10am to 1am  – you will love spending a day poolside. the Country Club also offer poolside dining, signature drinks, and free wifi.

While The Country Club used to be clothing optional, their website states that bathing suits must be worn. If not obvious, this venue is 21 and up only.

Open to locals every Sunday from 3pm-8pm, the NOPSI’s Above the Grid bar and downtown views help you end the weekend on a high note!

Ace Hotel

While their pool used to be free, they caught wind that every downtown employee was leaving work and having “meetings” on their rooftop pool. Non-guests now have to pay $25 during the peak hours from Friday-Sunday. Locals pay $5 Monday thru Thursday. The Ace offers lunch, dinner, drinks, and wifi all while lounging in your bathing suit.

The Drifter Hotel

The Drifter Hotel provides year round access to the pool (along with one guest!) – which is heated during the winter months. Other perks with the membership are discounted room rates and beverages! This is a 21 and up venue.

Dryades YMCA

This Central City YMCA has a 75-foot indoor swimming pool. While you will find swim teams prepping for competition, lap swimmers, and swim classes – it’s a cheap alternative for those looking to avoid the sun but want to take a dip.

Day passes are $10 or you can join for only $49/month for an adult membership.

Don’t miss water aerobics with Fred or the amazing gym upstairs.

While there are plenty of other hotel pools, we are showcasing more affordable options. Hotels like the Hilton Riverside and Windsor Court have memberships and fees ranging from $85/day to $1200/year.

All we ask of you is stay out of the river!
