My name is Natasha Schmidt, and I was born and raised in Metairie and New Orleans. I grew up always doing creative things – I’d draw, paint, make bracelets, make cards, make earrings, so many things. Never did I imagine I would find the job that suits me best much less be in the field of art.
Since beginning my apprenticeship at a tattoo shop in New Orleans in 2009, I knew that it was something I was going to do forever. I was determined to learn and completely hooked to all aspects of the entire process. Through learning the trade, I also discovered my style and the things I like to draw/tattoo. I have not stopped tattooing since I learned and I don’t want to. Needles, ink, skin… my favorite mediums.
My wife, Monica, has been my greatest support throughout this continuous journey and is co-owner of Tattoo Temple, our own private studio, where I now work full time with two other artists. Tattoo Temple makes its 5 year anniversary in October 2019!
Monica and I have 2 kids together who drive us to continue growing, expanding, and overcoming the obstacles needed to provide a balanced life for our family.
1. What products and services do you offer?
We are a private tattoo studio offering original/commissioned custom artwork.
2. How long have you been in business?
We are approaching our 5 year anniversary in October with plans to grow and expand in this industry. I have been tattooing for 9 years.
3. How do people find you online?
The shop website is tattootemplenola.com and my Instagram handle where you can find my online portfolio is natasha_schmidt_art. I can also be found through Google, Yelp, and Facebook, but I seldom use the Facebook page.
4. What is lesser known about your business that you wish more people knew?
I would like people to know that Tattoo Temple is a female-owned and female-staffed business with great artists who are respectful, creative, and thriving. It was not planned that way but the dynamic in here is so wonderful to be around. Especially while being tattooed.
5. Lagniappe Info.
I hope to one day expand and create Great Mother shop, a community-centered custom tattoo shop that is double to triple in size of the current shop. Where I could staff the space with like-minded artists dedicated to doing what they love and providing unique and high-quality body art.
Stop by Tattoo Temple at 4232 Canal in Mid-City!
